Abandoned dog recovering from ectrodactyly surgery

A dog is recovering from surgery after he was found abandoned in northeast Washington with a deformed leg.

Mr. Guy, or "Cinco" depending on who you ask, is now in foster care and doing well following the removal of his front right leg due to ectrodactyly.

Cinco was found with his sister, Carmine in forested land with known predator habitat. Both dogs were described as one to two years old, weighing about 35 to 40 pounds each.

Sanctuary manager Nancy Rose says the sister had been walking for awhile. She had worn the pads off of her paws and was covered in ticks. There were no other physical problems with the dog.

The surgery, priced at about $700, was funded by donations from the public, the Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary and Northwest Animal Welfare Project. Both dogs will go up for adoption following their fostering.
