Ecologists say beaver relocation was successful
A nuisance beaver was successfully relocated to a creek in Okanogan County on Wednesday evening. It was found making a mess in a rancher’s detention pond so ecologists with the Lands Council picked it up for its first relocation of the season.
Following our story, we received a text from ecologist Joe Cannon, who says the release was a success.
“It’s hanging around a small pool and we built some cover for it,” Cannon wrote as they left Republic.
The beaver’s new home is north of Wauconda on the property of state Rep. Joel Kretz who helped sponsor the Beaver Bill that was passed in June.
