Colville Airport Plans | News
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Getting in and out of Colville on a plane could soon be a lot easier... that's if voters say "yes" to a resolution on the November ballot. Resolution No. 07-11 asks voters whether they recommend the City of Colville proceed with plans to relocate and expand the Colville Municipal Airport.
Work is now underway to get the resolution on the ballot. Councilwoman Nancy Foll, Councilman Lou Janke and Citizen Eric Orthman will work to create statements "for" and "against" the plan. Those statements will go into the Voter's Guide for the General Election.
The City has been talking about expanding an airport for 30 years. Colville Mayor Richard Nichols says he supports the idea He says if the Resolution passes, he'll do all he can to help it move forward. If not, he says the City will shut the plans down. The project, if it moves forward, will take between 7 and 10 years.
