Health District offering free Community Health Worker training | Events
The Spokane Regional Health District has opened registration for their next round of Community Health Worker training in Colville. The free training program is open to people both in health care fields and those who work with the community at large.
The training is offered as part of a new system that Washington state is offering to prepare for the transition to universal health care. Community Health Workers will receive training on how to aide the people they serve with health care access and information.
Community Health Workers can be found both in medical fields and in places such as shelters, clinics and community centers. They serve as health advocates by providing services such as informal counseling, social support, care coordination and aiding with health services enrollment.
The eight week training course consists of two in person sessions with six weeks of online training in between. After the course, participants will be able to obtain additional online training in specific health topics.
