Stevens County prosecutors won't file charges against a Colville police officer who shot and killed a 21-year-old car prowling suspect last year.

A prosecutors' report released Monday said Officer Dan Spring feared for his life and was justified in shooting Sean Bergstrasser at Benny's Colville Inn Nov. 12.

The report says Spring fired six shots after Bergstrasser picked up a pistol that had fallen out of his backpack and pointed it at the officer.

Bergstrasser was a transient from California.
