Burglary suspect wanted in Pend Oreille County | Crime
The Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office is looking for a burglary suspect that fled on foot after he was caught driving a stolen pick up near Ione on Friday, July 5th.
Michael G. Shelly, 32, was in possession of a stolen Ford F-250 pick up truck when deputies tried to arrest him for a recent burglary. Deputies were able to apprehend the passenger in the truck, Shawn C. Kendle, 26, on a felony warrant out of Idaho, but Shelly fled.
Shortly after, a red Polaris ATV was reported stolen about a mile away. Witnesses in Ione reported that Shelly was seen in town on a red ATV and was asking for help running from the cops. U.S. Boarder Patrol Agents assisted in the search, but they did not find Shelly.
During the search for Shelly a burglary was reported near Ione and some of the missing items were found in the stolen truck. A search warrant executed two days later recovered the stolen property, estimated at around $3,000, as well as an Improvised Explosive Device. The Spokane County Bomb Squad was called into to dispose of it.
