Hewes Marine Company announces expansion | Business
After several consecutive years of growth and success, Hewes Marine Company (HMC) recently announced plans to expand it's production facilities in Colville.
The current HMC factory houses roughly 40,000 square feet of production space. The proposed expansion will provide an additional 19,000 square feet and will be completed by May 2015.
Since 2012 Hewscraft boats have been the number one selling boat in the Pacific Northwest, making it difficult for the current factory to keep up with demand. According to executives, the expansion will allow factory production levels to keep pace with current and projected demand for the next decade.
“The growth and success that allows us to build this expansion is a result of the great work of this entire team,” said co-owner Launa Hewes.
The announced plant expansion will further HMC's goal of supporting and growing the local commuity by allowing for increased boat production, development of new boats and expanded employment opportunities.
Hewes Marine Company is the leading producer of boats in the Pacific Northwest. HMC builds all welded aluminum fishing boats under the Hewescraft brand. HMC currently employs 105 individuals at its single production facility in Colville.
